Cinema Paris (previously and currently known as the Plaza Theatre and Arcade) and Savoy Hotel, Hay Street Mall, 1981.
Known as the Plaza from 1936-1964, the art deco Cinema Paris was a Hoyts Cinema until 1984. Later it was converted into a roller disco. The building is now vacant and currently houses some of Perth’s Christmas decorations.
The Savoy also had a newsreel format cinema in the basement underneath Betts & Betts. In 1987 it was reopened as a sex cinema with topless usherettes. The cinema staircase and entrance have since been demolished and replaced with shops. Access is only possible from the laneway behind to the derelict interior.
